March hair product reviews

Besides the fact that I'm late to the party, I must still express how much I lurrrvv these two products.

Vo5 Moisture Milks Strawberry and Cream
Vo5: It smoothes my hair and I experience less frizz when airdrying. Now to the important SMELLS SO GOOOOOD. It actually reminds me of strawberries and cream candy. Haha! I need to stop sniffing the bottle =) I've co-washed with it once, and I'll definately continue. *Note, I've used this twice and the bottle is half empty! Good thing its so affordable (read= *cheap*)The only issue is that my shedding seems to have increased, so I don't want to wash too often. Can't stand to see my hair coming out in balls!

Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise
ORS Hair Mayonnaise: Despite my initial fear, this product did not give my hair protein overload. I remember using it years ago, but for the life of me, I can't imagine why I stopped. My hair feels quite soft and silky, and although the smell isn't sweet and delicious, it really is an effective deep conditioner for my hair.

Next: Neutragena Triple Moisture Leave-In. I've been using this for a few weeks, so far its quite moisturizing. I'd like to use it for a bit longer to see if it helps my slight breakage.

P.S. I deep conditioned, washed, detangled and air dryed my hair all by myself this week! Hahaa I sound like such a proud two-year old. =) Seriously, two months ago, I would end up with a ball of hair the size of my palm if I tried to detangle. Thank God for good products and hair blogs!

One week post and such.

So last Saturday 10th March I had my hair relaxed at my hairdresser....
On the positive side, my roots came out pretty straight!

Meanwhile, I suffered quite a few burns as she used an extra-strength relaxer formula...

Whyyy meeeee?
I mean, I know my hair can be considered "coarse" but aren't hairdressers supposed to ask before they change your relaxer??
Serves me right for not saying anything about it!
Anyway, I've since deepconditioned and washed (in that order) once since getting a relaxer and I'm nursing my poor scalp back to health.

May- I'm relaxing my hair myself!

On the other bright side, I'm back to collar bone length!! woot! Pictures to come sooon.
Finally, here are a couple products I recently bought which I'll hopefully be trying out this month.

VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberry and Cream Moisturizing Conditioner, Neutragena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-In and ORS Hair Mayonnaise
I'm interested in "co-washing", though my mom seems pretty skeptical lol.

Happy hair journey!

Experimenting with my regimen

Since I started my hair journey in December of last year I've been on a mission to experiment with a wide variety of products and techniques to find out what works for my hair.
So far, the products I've bought/been using include:

Vitale Olive Oil Deep Moisturizing Shampoo
Neutragena Triple Moisture Shampoo
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner (doesn't quite help with the tangles. Maybe I should add oils?)
Organic Root Stimulator Replinishing Pak (this is a deep conditioner, and my hair loves this!)
Vitale Olive Oil Moisturizer (has a lotion-y consistency but it does the trick)
Coconut to seal (almost out, looks like I'll be making more over the fire! lool)
ORS Olive Oil Wrap/Set Mouse
ORS Olive Oil Glossing Polisher

I bought the ORS Hair Mayonnaise but haven't mustered the courage to use it yet. I'm nervous about whether it will agree with my hair or make it tangly and stiff.

Last week I deep conditioned on dry hair before my shampoo for about 2 hours (didn't originally mean to go so long!) I definately didn't leave it in too long because in I must say that my experience it was AWESHOME. My hair was incredibly soft, had less tangles and less hair came out in the detangling after I washed it out and shampooed with the Vitale. I am definately going to continue deep conditioning on dry hair!

Additionally, I look forward to adding oils in my dc to spice it up. So far I have my coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and now, eucalyptus oil. I'm going to be mixing the EVOO and eucalyptus oil and applying it to my scalp to see if it helps with the dermatitis and itching. Some tea tree oil might help too!

Other products I want to try: Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave-In Split End Corrector and Neutragena Triple Moisture Silk Leave-In

Oh! Almost forgot. I got my new growth relaxed yesterday! =) Will post more info later on how that went.

Carol's Daughter: Chocolat Smoothing Collection

Flipping through an Essence magazine, I came across an ad for Carol's Daughter Chocolat set:

Call it the power of advertising, but the model's hair looks sooo soft and smooth that I instantly wanted to try the Chocolat set!  =) Besides, its made with cacao! i.e. chocolate! Anything with chocolate is my friend! I hope the products aren't so yummy as to entice a taste test...

The only problem is this is most likely not availble where I live. So I'ma break out amazon. Or ask a relative to send it to me by post. I hope I do get an opportunity to buy it.

As I was looking for it online, I came accross the actual Carol's Daughter website. In case you didn't know, it was founded by Lisa Price, an African American woman who develops hair, skin and body products for women of colour! You can learn more about her story here.

Happy Sunday!
